Picross DS
Picross is one of the puzzle game i like. At first glance, I thought it's some sudoku but after playing I find this game is easier than sudoku~
I believe some of you knows this game as this game was also previously released on Gameboy. Back then... More than 10 years ago. It was Mario's Picross but the game is the same I think.
Basically you have to fill up the grids with the give clue to the sides. It's quite fun cos it's like to place each pixels to the image and finally uncovering the picture. This game isn't difficult for me. I don't like sudoku because I think it's difficult and it requires a lot of thinking.
I found one trick is that we have solve from outer to inner. The same approach as playing jigsaw puzzle. The digits showing the number of grids to be filled is in order.
By reading my description here isn't enough. Don't worry there's a tutorial in the game that can help you get started and start solving! Check out this game in store now~
iSketch
iSketch is an multi-player online Pictionary. Click on the image above to go to the game.
This game is fun when you can play with your friends. This game is simple. Everyone will take turn to draw, the computer will generate a word for you depends on the standard you choose. You have to draw to let people guess your word and the rules is you are not allowed to write any words. However, if you play with people that you do not know, sometimes they tend to write the word and they will get penalized.
This game has a simple and neat interface. It's quite user friendly and you do not need to create an account. You just need to have Adobe Shockwave Player installed and you can just login to the game with any nickname that you have entered. After you have got into the game, you will see the lobby, below is the image.
Now, this is how the game going to be like.
You can create a room or join any rooms that is not full. Something good about this game is that you can join the room even the game has already started. If you do not want to play with your friends you can just click on the Create Room button in the lobby. Lets take a look at the Create Room screen below.
Creating the room is just as simple as ABC. All the instructions are written on it already. Very convenient eh? =D.
Now, this is how the game going to be like.
The box beside the list of the username is where you spam all your answers to the drawing, Yea! SPAM!! SPAM is the key to win the game, spam every words that you can think of. You will be notified when you get the correct answer. There is not time limit to draw but the time will start count down when the first person gets the correct answer.
The box below the list of username is where you chat but normally i just chat in the answer box. Only sometimes I will chat at the correct box. BUT BUT! Thats a bad example, its still best to chat in the box below because when u talk and ppl spam words, you will have to keep scrolling upwards to read the message. SO! Please do chat at the box below!
You can see the very big white area. Ye~ That's the place where you draw when you turn comes.
Finally the after 10 rounds of drawing and spamming of answers the winner will be show. CONGRATULATIONS!
For the image, ignore the GAY thing.. I don't know why the Team is GAY and thats when I join the game halfway. That's about it! I will recommend this game to everyone. Because this game is multiplayer, the game experience might differ for different individuals.
Mystery Case Files : Dire Grove
Another Hidden Objects game that I'm gonna review on. People who enjoy a nice hidden object game with a nice ambiance and a very good story layout, you are really going to love this game. This was still on the top 10 list on BigFishGames a few weeks ago, it has dropped down to top 20 since the releases of new games.
I was very attracted by the story summary at first, which prompted me to try out the game myself: A group of graduate students has gone missing in Dire Grove. There is a Celtic legend passed down from many generates to generations, considered it to be fairy tale. However, there is this artifact that has just been uncovered in United Kingdom, which proves that the fairy tale may not just be an fairy tale. The group of graduate students stepped foot into Dire Grove, which seems abandoned and ended up missing in the town. So it's now up to the player to uncover the mystery and find out the whereabouts of the students.
What's very different about this Hidden Objects game and the others that I've played in the past is that most of the Hidden Objects just let you go through a lot of different puzzle maps and give you a list of what you need to find. This game, however, instead of being asked to go through lots and lots of lists, you will have to take pick up objects and do something to them to uncover more puzzles and mysteries. Some things are pretty logical, when you completed a hidden objects puzzle, you will get an axe from the puzzle, then later you can use the axe on a pile of wood for firewood and get some warmth from the snow.
Even the start of the game is pretty interesting. After clicking the "PLAY" button on the menu page, instead of going through dialogues like most games does, it straight away starts on the game play. It's quite good in a sense that most people who started out playing a game, they already have some sort of background on it. However, there are still people who just play game without knowing the story, if that's the case, they could only slowly uncover the story, because even if people did homework on this, all they know is that graduate students have gone missing.
What really freaked me out was the screen shot of these when I went around looking for more information of this game before I decided to try it out myself. Turns out when I was playing this is that this is one of the missing students. Throughout the game, video tapes could be found on various maps, if I didn't remember wrongly, there will be a total of 20 to collect, the first tape that player found though, would be the last piece of the whole story. After you have collected all 20 video parts, you would know what happened to these students.
I like horror stories and all, but I'm also one who are scared of this kind of games, else I would have tried F.E.A.R myself. I was very very very curious about the story behind this game, and even though this scene really freaked me out I still forced myself to continue playing. The only thing that is comforting is that this game is actually meant for all ages, so definitely there wouldn't have those ultra scary things that come out to scare the wits out of you.
This is a diary/journal that the in game player would update whenever new things, or something peculiar has been found, so if you quit the game randomly, you could refresh your memory by what reading those that has been updated in the log.
The only amazing part is that when you are at the final stage of the game whereby the "bad thing" is out, the in game player still has the time to update his diary / journal.
This game pretty much gets you involved in it, because even if at times you get very fed up with not being able to find the next step, you would still continue prying for the answer. One thing about this game is that, the map is very big. Since it is the whole town of Dire Grove, there are a lot of places that you need to go to, and most likely it will gets you confused. Well, at least I did since I didn't have a good sense of direction in the first place.
I would give this game a rating of 9/10 because the story is very captivating. The ambiance itself is also very nice and eerie. I couldn't stop myself from play this game once I have started it too.

Vampireville
This is in the top 10 ranking on BigFishGames now, and it's the popular hidden object genre, whereby you will go around looking for things the game ask you to.
Horror and mysterious games are tend to be in favor now as we see games like Left 4 Dead, DIABLO, F.E.A.R and Silent Hill getting really popular. It seems to also be the case for casual pc games as most of the games on the top ranking are those that has horror themes or mysterious themes. Which also made this to be in the top 10 ranking.
We started off this game as being the apparaiser for this Malgrey castle which has been around for 99 years. Since there isn't any heir to claim this castle, the government will soon obtain the right to sell away this castle. The catch to this is that all the appraisers who have gone to this castle has gone crazy and now you will be the one who will be sent there after one of your close colleagues has gone crazy too. This is the point which makes me really want to try out the game as I'm actually really curious about the story behind it.
This is the person you will be playing as. As compared to the whole theme and the anticipation of waiting for the vampire to come out, I would say that the character itself looks more freakish than any other things in the game. Oh well.
Most of the time, you will be tasked to find things in a particular room. Or you would be finding pieces of things, such as pieces of maps to go to some place. You would be tasked to find pieces of floor plans at the start of the game.
You would also encounter small puzzle games like this
Small puzzles like this are pretty straight forward. Even if you didn't read the objective, you can click on the red book on the top left hand corner to see the objective again.
Players tend to be irritated when they are stuck at some part of the game or being stuck in this puzzles. There is this button on the top right hand corner that will allow you to skip the puzzle after some time, this is considered a good point for impatient players.
What really got me going for this kind of games are really just the story. I've played few of hidden objects games, I have to say that I wasn't really very into this finding of items. Most of the time I just go very frustrated and irritated because I can't find certain objects yet I want to know what is the story.
There are of course a few hidden object games that are really nice, especially when the story of the game is good. However, I wouldn't really give a high rating for this game though. It's okay for people who like to enjoy playing different kind of puzzle games and if you really just liked hidden object games. If you're the kind that are like me, gets frustrated easily and just ends up clicking everything but are interested in the game, I would recommend you to try other games like the Forgotten Riddles: The Moonlight Sonata, I really love that one.
Vampireville is good in the sense it has many different kind of puzzle games in just one game. You have unlimited hints, but you will have to wait for a while to use it, this is good for people like me who just want to get it over and done with and continue knowing the story. I initially wanted to spend less than 4 hours finishing this, in fact, I expected a 2 hours. Much to my dismay, when I reached chapter 10, I was shocked to realized that it wasn't the end. I was hoping it to be 15 then, and was disappointed. I was sure it will stop at 20. What really amazed me was that it stretched up to chapter 25. The story got boring and I lost my focus of what I'm playing in the end.
This game actually made you to expect that you will be the heir to the castle instead. In the end, the heir ended up to become some other random person.
I would only give this game a rating of 7 out of 10.

Wake the Royalty
"Wake the Royalty" is a casual physics game. Ho ho.. There is only a total level of 25 so this game can be completed in less than a day. LOL. So, it's quite casual.
The main aim of the game is to wake up the sleeping objects, in this game the Royals which are the round objects with sleepy faces on it. In order to wake them up, all you have to do is to connect the wooden objects. There is already some wooden objects in the game, and you will be provided with either one or a few wooden objects but these objects is provided is in sequential order. So you cannot get the ones you wanted as and when you like.
The game play is very simple. However sometimes we still get stuck in certain level. (Aww..) There are solutions provided as youtube videos, just click on the Walkthrough button and it will open up another website. There is a total 2 videos which is the solution of every level. Warning - Watching the videos will result in loss of interest in the game.
Overall this game will be fun for people who wants to kill time. How I wish there are more levels to it.. =D
Playfish - Hotel City @ Facebook
Saw this game on Facebook sometime ago. At first, it did not catch my attention until I keep seeing the feeds posted by my friends saying "I'm hiring!". Seems like quite a number of my friends are playing it. So I guess I shall go and try out this game.
At first impressions, I thought this game is by some random developer until I saw the Playfish Logo and the banner from them. I mean, the style of this game doesn't really seems to be from Playfish. If you guys plays any Playfish games before.. You will notice that their game is really cute and the graphics are better than most of the flash games we played on Facebook or any other websites. Yea, I can say the graphics of this game is rather disappointing at first impression.(I dun mean disappointing in the sense of after lowering the quality but its really.. Not that cute, maybe because the characters are small =S) After looking at it carefully, you will realise some parts of the games reminds you of some of the game developed by Playfish. Below is a screen shot taken.
The human beings in this Hotel City game somehow has the skeleton of the characters in Pet Society, the way they wave and run it the same. The background of Hotel City is almost the same as the background in Restaurant City, it is of the same concept of having the Hotels in a street. Maybe because this game is still in the its Beta phase. Oh well.. Hope that will be more improvements on graphics in the future. For now lets put aside the graphical parts.
Basically, we just have to pay some amount of wages to your temporary stuffs. The amount will vary for the amount of time they are going to work. After paying, your hotel will start to get business. YAY! That is not everything yet. There will be customers going in automatically but there is also some Passerby A, B, C. What you can do to them is to click on them. Yeah. click on them using your mouse~ Then they will roll into your hotel. =D This is the only way to get more customers/money.You can also click on the customers who are sleeping in your hotel to get more money or points. Though, it will be annoying to wake up your customers and ask them to pay you some tips but never mind it's just a game. There are some facilities for you to unlock at certain levels blah blah. (Like most of games) Finally, you can hire your friends by posting news feed, or you can get hired by your friends so that you will get extra money daily.
Technically, some of the features in this game is still not developed at the moment. Don't "huh", ye, not fully implemented features even though the features might already be available in the other games by Playfish. There is quite a few items saying "Coming Soon" for now. One of the main thing which irritates me is that I can't sell away unwanted items for money! ARGH!! Why is it not there when this feature shouldn't be new to them. I thought they could just grab the programming code from their other games and put it in this game. Maybe there is some other technical problems or they have other reason for not having this function in yet. But I believe one day this Sell function will be in, hope it will be there real soon. There is also quite a number of bugs here and there, and there is still some loopholes here and there and people is able to cheat to get more money and higher level. One of my friend actually went to around level 50. I admit that I did a search around for cheats.. Hohoho. Indeed there is some cheats available in some of the website. But but.. Please do not hack or cheat. It might result in ban in all Playfish games and it will be pathetic on the programmers to cover up the loopholes or to secure the game data. It will be a lot of job and maintenance.
Though this hotel management idea isn't new in Facebook games. I believe Playfish will try to do a good job to excel. Bringing us better games.
